Who am I?
Who am I?
Well, I am an average guy who just happens to have a little bit in common with you. I'm actually normal in most respects, weird in other and sometimes a complete queer.
You know someone like me you might just be someone like me.
I was born in a very conservative small town, had a happy but strictly Afrikaans upbringing.
Luckily my mom wanted me to be a girl, so when I was allowed to play with Barbie and had my very own sewing machine.
My fascination with the fashion probably started as a kid playing with my moms shoes.
My first thing I ever made was a dress. It was made out of two checkers bags...Called it Fashion and then ran around in the garden like fairy...
My love only started at sixteen while watching Sex and the City. The shoes, the bags, the fashion and of course the Legendary Patricia Field
After School I traveled to england to live in Brighton to find a creative out source.
Still not sure what my calling was, I tried out hairdresing but shortly after loosing my hair I decided that I cant see myself earning a living making other peoples hair look nice while I have none. I am 21, damit!
This should not be happening.... If this ain't a sign I don't know what is?
Arriving back after my year abroad my mom asked me to please not go and study a stereotypical gay job. Like any good son, I listened to my mom before she "klapped" me
After graduation with a degree in Marketing, I moved to the Mother City with a degree and a Facebook boyfriend. (have you ever?)
Recession hit SA and due to a lack of work and a lack of interest from my side I never really looked for a job in the direction I studied. . .
Instead was stuck in a boring retail store dreaming to be free...
A friend came to me and recommended that I should go intern as a stylist at a Publication.
No this is not Devil wears Prada or so I thought.
Fashion is Fashion and Its a Bitch, its cruel, brutal but like any new experience as soon as you learn to hold on it starts getting better.
A year later I have worked for multiple publications, done the most amazing fashion shows. Stood next to SA's best. Dined with the creme ala creme. Worked with International Celebrities, Toured with a band and produce a label.
Welcome to my world
Hope u enjoy the ride...

I called day after day begging to meet the one the only Fashion Editor that I wanted to work for. After a ten minute interview I was given the position as assistant but I had to run, fetch, act dumb and shut up. All of this without getting paid... I didn't care I was hungry for something different.

Meeting Terry Richardson
I was 19 in the weirdest city this boer seun have ever been in. BRIGHTON.(UK not Duuuurban)
One day as I was wondering around the North Lanes I came across a little art gallery where I saw this book
Coming from the conservative Afrikaans background sex and nudity was still a bit strange to me. I could not understand it and shy to actually look at it. Is it Art or is it Porn. I could just hear my granma shouting sit daai donderse book weg.
Inside these pages where pictures of dicks, cum on faces, men on men, men on women, men with transvestite and …. much much more…
5 Years later
I came across his book on a recent job. I remembered the cover as if it was yesterday. I could not believe it....
This is his what we shall call "decent" work that I could find online…Have a look!!!
